One of the many reasons I love writing this blog is because I can talk passionately about things like litter scoops and you guys get it.
Kindred spirits!
As people who get it, you know that litter scoops are not all created equal. The crappy ones suck. And have you ever had one break in the middle of scooping up some litter box goodies? Not fun.
I’ve been using a new product for a few months now that I want to share with you – the Litter-Lifter Kitty Litter Scoop!
(Now, the Litter-Lifter people did send me free products to try out but I’m not being compensated in any other way for telling you about my experience. This is all my own opinion!)
These scoops are awesome. From the moment I started using them, they felt different. Sturdier. And there is something about the way the clean litter just kind of slides through the slats that makes it easier to shake the clumps free. Watch this and you’ll see what I mean:
Upon further reading about the products, I learned that the “tines” of the scoop are actually triangular-shaped, while most scoops have flat tines. Who knew?
In addition to being sturdy and effective, some of these scoops have cute little kitty-cat images on them, which always makes me smile. But that’s just the icing on the cake.
Something else I found interesting were a couple of testimonials on their site from folks with arthritis who said the Litter-Lifter was helpful to them because it didn’t require much shaking to sift the clumps from the clean litter. So those of you suffering from arthritis (and I feel for you!) might want to try these out.
What else can I tell you about these litter scoops? They come in a few sizes, colors and shapes and you can purchase them on Amazon or one of these retailers.
And, oh yah! I’m giving a couple of them away!
Just leave a comment below and tell me what you hate most about litter box duty. I’ll choose two winners on Wednesday, March 13 and then ship these bad boys out immediately.
Happy Friday, friends!

Well with 7 cats and 5 litter box’es to clean anything that will make it easier and faster to do would be a great thing. I have tried diffrent kinds of scoops and you are right after looking at these i can sure see why they work can you tell me where i can find them . Would love to have one for each box. And you are right nothing worse to be scooping away and then snapp i have been there more then once. So i hope maybe you will find that i would make a good fit for one of the scoops i will even wright a review for you if that would help i love your post i am a foster mom so i work with a few of the shelters (is why i have 7 babies ) hard to let them go LOL I am going to let my friends now about these asap. Thanks for the heads up on them.
Oh my, you are a wonderful cat mommy! I updated the post to link to where you can find them..if you don’t win, that is!
We have 2 new inside kenitts I let my daughter adopt a month ago..they have a little open liter box. PEE UUU!!! Guess WHO takes care of them..me Outside theres a stray mother n her 4- 6month old kenitts we feed & someone else in the neighborhood must also feed.. Need to get them all to the vet to be fixed.. Our County (Oakland Co in Mi) is waayy overpopulated with kitties
This is so timely because I have a *terrible* scoop for my upstairs litterbox. It’s plastic and flimsy and makes scooping the box far more difficult than it should be. Hope I win one!
So every day you think “I need to get a better scoop!” but you never do, right? Hee hee!
We have a few cats and 5 boxes to scoop daily. We use the extra large scoop which still requires a lot of shifting. So its great to know there is a better one out there! As far as what I hate other than the daily scooping chore, is when one misses the box. Ick! …and I hate the mega cleaning days, but my cats are totally worth it!
And it always happens when you are in a rush or have 65 million other things to do that day. But you can’t really put it off, can you? ick!
Getting up in the middle of the night, checking those big turd things in the box to be sure they all look healthy! yuk
I know! Talk about getting all up in someone’s “business!”
What I hate most about pulling L.B. duty???
The way Miss Blanche insists on scrutinizing my technique while she waits to do her business immediately afterward!!!
LOL! She is “snoopervising” your work!
When you’re in a rush, grab the scoop & the scoop gives way with the poop & you get a “crappy “pee-poo laced shower thrown back at you.
Ewwww. That’s the worst.
I hate cleaning up the litter that Katie throws OUT of the box. I swear that she takes pawfuls of it and flings it around. I put our litter boxes in plastic washing machine trays, per a suggestion that I read here some time ago, and that helps a bit.
I’m glad that is working out for you! We still use the trays too for one set of our boxes and it works really well!
What on earth could there be to hate about scooping 7 litterboxes everyday!! And I’m currently scooping with a broken handled scoop so I could use a new one!
SEVEN! That’s impressive! It’s funny what we get used to using, isn’t it?
Can’t tell you how many I have snapped in half. I hate when the litter sticks to the scoop and then gets heavy. That is probably why they snap. Would love to have a sturdy scoop. I love the colors and the design on the scoop is great. Terrific thinking on someone’s part in the design stage. One of these scoops would look great as well as handling the dirty (pardon the phrase) work.
They always snap at the worst time, too!
I hate sweeping up all the loose litter that ends up on the floor.
Me too! I use Bissell’s Pet Edge sweeper which works great. I’ll do a proper review on it one of the days but it makes it not so bad of a job.
The litter box is in my bathroom, and whenever it is time to scoop I have to close the door to do so. Otherwise one of my cats, Boots, will climb in the box while I am scooping and decide that he must use it at that very second. And he ALWAYS has to use it immediately after I clean it.
Love your site, by the way. Please don’t enter me in the giveaway. I actually have a really great sturdy scoop (got it at Target, the cheapest one, for those who are interested). I’ve had it for almost a year and it is still going strong. It sounds like someone else on here could definitely use a new scoop more than me!
You are so sweet! Cat people are the best.
Thanks for the nice compliment.
That’s hilarious that Boots shimmies his way into the box while you are in the middle of your duties!
I have been using this scoop for over a year and just love it. Makes an easy job of scooping. I would like to win one to use at the adoption site where I volunteer and clean cages.
Awesome! Glad to have agreement about how great they are.
The worst part about cleaning the cat box is that my oldest cat, a 15 year old Persian named Winston, has never met a clean cat box that he didn’t like. I clean the box at least every morning and I swear he waits for me to clean it so he can try it out again. Darn cat, if he wasn’t so cute…….
They are little stinkers for sure. I always imagine my cats saying “Cool, thanks!” as they climb in to soil it up again.
Let’s see – what’s not to love? The pleasant odor that wafts up once in a while (particularly when you have people over), the crunchy little granules left on your rug (and your desk, bed, couch, etc., etc.), especially nice when you are barefoot? Or how about when the little darlings do a shoveling job like they are digging to China and fling litter merrily all across the room? Ah, yes, it’s
all good – because it’s all a lot better than them NOT using the litterbox!
I guess if you put it that way, litter box scooping rocks! Actually, you’re right. I would much rather scoop a box than clean a carpet!
Thankfully, my hubby cleans out the litter boxes (for the most part) but when I have to do it I’d say the thing I hate most is the smell. :p A couple of our cats don’t bury their waste so it can be a little stinky.
Even if I don’t win I’m going to get one or two cause a good scoop makes all the difference in litter box duty.
Thanks!
I love that your hubby is the litter maid. I think the non covering is so bizarre! I have one who covers and one who does not. And the “does not” one really stinks up the house!
The worst part is cleaning around the litter box! My cats get litter everywhere!
So true! Somehow it ends up across the room, under the couch in our spare bedroom!
Litter box duty is never any fun but we would be happy to try out some pooper scoopers that make it a little easier. Thanks for the chance to win!
Thanks for entering! Good luck!
i hate that my cat just wont cover her stuff she will scratch at the corner of the ledge of the box like that is going to cover it. her sister covers but also trails litter everywhere covering her stuff.
Stinky!
What I hate most about litter box duty is threefold – the fact that my cats like to do their business right up against the sides of the box, that neither of our cats bury their ‘gifts’ (and I’m kind of glad to see I’m not the only one with that problem), and that they both track litter like crazy. One of our cats has never covered up after himself. The other one we got six months later; she covered when we first got her, but then I think someone else’s bad behavior rubbed off on her!
I know. Everytime there’s a non covered “gift”
I look at the perp and say, “REALLY?”
go to your local Wal-Mart and buy 1 or 2 boxes of arm and hammer ltiter box deodorizer, it excellent, all you do is sprinkle it liberally either on top of the ltiter or on the bottom before putting ltiter in it, then you want to take your pooper scooper and mix it with the ltiter, you should add the deodorizer to the box at least once a week since you have 1 cat. The smell of this stuff is great and makes the house smell real fresh, I have 5 cats and I add this stuff to my box every 3-4 days.Oh and if you ever wash out the cat box which you should at least once a week, soak in some lysol 4-in1 floor cleaner for about 20 minutes. Mom shouldnt smell the cat at all if you do these 2 things IT REALLY WORKS WONDERS.
The thing I hate the most about cleaning the litter box is carrying the baggie of doody up from the basement, through the house and out to the garbage can only to turn around and discover that there was a tiny hole in the baggie and you’ve just left yourself a trail of icky litter all the way through the house and into the basement!
OMG that is the absolute worst. THE WORST.
we love ‘em too especially the larger ones.
We reviewed them on Cat Chat!! Loved them!
Awesome!
Twice a day, 11 cats, 8 pans, 3 breeze systems, an omega paw-I need all the help I can get
LOL you don’t need to say anymore!
I hate it when I waste so much clean litter because it doesn’t go through the tines of the litter scoop. Also don’t like the clumps sticking to the box and then breaking up when you go to scoop it out only to have lots of dirty small pieces that fall back into the litter box. Thanks for the chance to try the litter lifter, would love one. Have six cats and lots of boxes to keep clean.
Ewww! Yes, you are right! OMG that is a lot of boxes to keep clean!
What do I hate the most about litter box duty. Well, first of all because I’m the only one that does it. No one else notices that there is a litter box until there’s a fresh pile in there and then you hear, “Boy those cats stink!” Second is trying to get to the litter box without stepping on a granual of litter that the cats have strewn here and there and that really hurts in bare feet. Thirdly is making it to the litter box only to find that a few little presents were left for you outside the edge on the tile floor. And lastly is when you go to scoop the litter out and your scooper either snaps in mid scoop, bends and everything falls back off or is just plain “crappy” and doesn’t work at all. These are some of the reasons why I hate litter box duty.
Kathy, I’m with you on all of these! I have a pair of ‘litter flip flops” in one of my litter box rooms, just for that reason!
I have 4 fuzzy kids and so I feel like I am always scooping. I have actually broken scoopers because of “big heavy clumps.” Went to a HUGE metal scoop but wet litter sticks to it….I hate that! Am going to Petco to check out these new scoops….I like having one near each box, so hopefully I will win one and only have to buy 3 more.
