Jackson Galaxy’s Book, “Cat Daddy”

Have you ever watched the show, “My Cat From Hell?” Do you look at the star of the show Jackson Galaxy (and one of our litter box mentors!) and think to yourself, “look at this cool dude, all tattoo-ed and mojo-ish on TV……working with cats. What a great gig!”

I bet a lot of people who watch the show think that. But before this “great gig” came a heartbreakingly inspiring journey to where he is now. And Jackson shares it all in his new book, Cat Daddy: What the World’s Most Incorrigible Cat Taught Me About Life, Love, and Coming Clean

“Cat Daddy” is Jackson and Benny the cat’s story. Two beings, one hell bent on self destruction and one….just kinda hell bent.

Is this a cat book? Yes. But it’s so, so, so much more. This ain’t your mama’s cat book, that’s for sure.

Jackson’s story is extreme – a recovery from life-threatening drug, alcohol and food addiction. But you don’t have to be an addict to recognize the feelings and thoughts that Jackson lays out in his narrative. You’ll see some of yourself in Jackson’s words…..and they’ll touch you.
Cat Daddy book
Wrapped in this incredible story of recovery is the story of “the original cat from hell,” Benny, a broken, untrusting and “unbondable” according to his former owner. Benny is a cat who might never have made it if Jackson hadn’t found him. On the other hand, Jackson might never have made it if Benny hadn’t found him. Makes you stop and think a bit….

Jackson shares the details of his life, his loves and his relationships with candor and intimacy that surprised me at first but completely drew me in. I couldn’t put the book down.

Throughout the book Jackson shares how he became “America’s Cat Daddy” (I love that title!) through his shelter work to private consultations to his relationship with Benny and his experiences with the cat world.

It’s pretty powerful to learn that his work with cats made him work to stay sober.

I hope you do purchase the book and love it like I did. Check out Cat Daddy on Amazon, Barnes and Noble or other booksellers and let me know what you think!

Oh, P.S. I received a complimentary review copy but no further compensation. This is my own take on the book!
