Precious Cat Litter Giveaway
I get a lot of reader questions about what’s the best cat litter and honestly, at the end of the day, it depends on your cat and your situation.
I can tell you, however, that if you have a cat who needs some encouragement to get back to the litter box, many people swear by Dr. Elsey’s Precious Cat litters.
In particular, Cat Attract is a product that contains a blend of herbs designed to draw cats into the litter box.
Precious Cat is privately owned by Dr. Elsey and also includes other products like a low-dust Respiratory Relief litter, a formula just for long-haired cats, a kitten formula and more.
Precious Cat, knowing that many cats in shelters have pee issues, donates a lot of litter to shelters and rescue groups across the country.

Two people I’ve featured here on HLB count Cat Attract as a factor in their success getting their cat back to the box…you can read Cesare’s story here and Scrubby’s story here.
Experts like one of our Litter Box Mentors, Tracie Hotchner, also recommend Cat Attract for problem cats. Tracie is the author of the Cat Bible and the Dog Bible and the host of Cat Chat® and Dog Talk® radio shows. And she’s dedicated to the well being of all pets.
In fact, Tracie is so dedicated to help wayward kitties get back to the litter box that she’s partnered with Precious Cat to provide Happy Litter Box readers with a free bag of Precious Cat litter.
SO, if you’ve ever wanted to try it or are up for a new option, all you have to do is email me a few sentences letting me know why your cat is “precious” and a photo.
If you send me your story, you get a coupon (while our supplies last!) for a free bag of Dr. Elsey’s. How awesome is that?
Now’s your chance. Email me at caroline@highpaw.com with subject line “precious cat.” Then tell me your cat’s name and give me 2-3 sentences describing why your cat is precious. Be sure to include your photo!
I’ll be posting stories beginning Monday October 15 but you have until October 31, 2012 at Midnight EST to email me your stories for a free bag of Precious Cat litter.
Can’t wait to start getting all of those precious emails!

I cannot figure out how to buy this cat box. Do not see anywhere to order it. Looks like it might work for my cats.
Hi Diana, It’s actually not a box but rather a litter. You can purchase here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009X49IC/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0009X49IC&linkCode=as2&tag=thehaplit-20
My cats Donny, Cassie & Bella have made me whole again.
I was diagnosed as HIV+ in 2007. In 1987, the expectation was that I would live another 2 years. I was 27 years old, was just getting over my partner of 6 years commiting suicide 2 years earlier and had startewd a pre-med program. After diagnosis, I ran away to Maui. A year later and I was still alive and missing my family and friends in MD.
Fast forward to 2005, I am healthy and I soon discover why I am still alive – to take care of my hero, my mom. Mom fell and fractured her hip and thus began the long journey of goodbye. For the next 2 1/2 years, mom was in and out osf hospitals, nursing homes, etc. I knew that my higher power had a purpose for me – to make sure mom knew she was loved and to be by her side.
After mom passed, there was a void in my life. A year later I offered to “foster” Bella who was soon followed by Donny and then Cassie. I quickly became a foster failure as I knew I needed these kitties in my life as much as they needed me. I now have added 2 dogs to the gang – Harley & Gertie. I am greeted with love, wagging tails, barks and purrs and meows when I get home. I looked forward to coming home everyday and sharing my life with my new family.
To be honest I don’t use a litter scooper that’s specifically used for scooping. What I have been using for years is a plastic kitchen soup spoon with slits in it. It cost a $1 at any dollar store, it has a pointy type end to get into the corners and it has worked perfectly for me for a long time. Of course I replace it every now and then. When you’re on a tight budget like I am you look for the best price and that it will do a sufficient job.
